Project Updates & Impacts
Traffic Impacts
In observance of Independence Day, crews will not work Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5. Work will resume on Monday, July 6. Traffic control devices will remain in place to protect the work area.
Traffic along Woodoak Lane will be limited to local business access only between 7 A.M. and 5 P.M., Monday through Friday for approximately 3-weeks*.
Crews anticipate paving operations along Woodoak Lane to occur in mid-July. After this paving is complete, crews will move to 900 East to continue to install storm drain toward 5700 South. Crews will be working during nighttime hours when working on the 900 East and Woodoak Lane intersection.
How the Slide Rail System Works
Crews using the slide rail system to install storm drain pipe along Woodoak Lane.
This project is using a slide rail system to support deep excavation work. The system prevents trench walls and nearby structures from collapsing or caving in by providing stable support.
Crews install posts along the trench and excavate in stages, lowering steel panels between the posts using a dig-and-push method. This creates a safe, controlled work zone as the excavation deepens.
This approach improves safety and efficiency compared to traditional trenching methods and is especially useful for storm drain installation, where maintaining stable soil conditions is critical.
